Ok, first off, our dog hasent been eating for about 2 weeks. We originally thought it was the other dogs eating her food, so we brought her into the house to eat, but she didnt. She started losing weight, and energy, almost immediately. My parents tried different things but were unsuccessful. So I intervened, cause its not my dog but I dont want her die. We had BBQ hotdogs tonight, and there was 4 left over. Without anyone knowing, I tested a couple things. I brought out hotdogs, pizza, and a bowl of dog food. She ate the hotdogs and pizza without thinking. But, the dog food she wont even touch. Which I originally suspected cause of the lawsuit that was recently started.

Basically, she looks really bad, hips showing and all that. They were going to put her down tomorrow, but I got her to eat. Now, being half educated, I know that when somethings starving, the last thing you do is feed it a whole bunch. So, how do I bring her back to health?
Shes a full size poodle, and shes 15. Though she acted young, until recently. Do you feed her a little bit 5 times a day, or, medium amount 2 times, or, start off with a little bit frequently and increase. Or what?

We made the biggest mistake by giving her human food at the young age so she quickly went off dog food altogether. Only problem lately she is turning her nose up at that too. We give her good chicken but she might eat a small amount of it compared to what she used to eat. The dog is in perfect health so we don't know what else to do, please help.

Booqoos and the Animal Trustees of Austin (ATA) have joined forces to promote discounted canine dental services and a coupon fundraising campaign . This collaborative effort promotes pet health & wellness, as well as raises funds to continue ATA’s valuable work in the community.

Beginning October 1, 2011, a limited number of coupons for discounted canine dental services will be made available for purchase at http://www.booqoos.com. Good dental care is as important for dogs as it is for humans. Regular teeth cleaning and polishing is an important part of wellness care, and can help prevent the progression of dental disease and more serious health problems.

There will also be 3,000 fundraising coupons available at http://www.booqoos.com for purchase for each. There is no limit on the number of fundraising coupons that can be purchased. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these coupons will go directly to ATA’s Emergency Care Fund. The ATA Emergency Care Fund was established in response to the large number of animals in need of emergency care. Guardians desperate for help, and unable to afford the high cost of emergency treatment often bring their pets to the ATA for assistance. These animals receive immediate intervention and the care they need due to funding from the ATA Emergency Care Fund. Last year the ATA treated 34,500 animals from Central Texas thanks to this fund.

About Booqoos (TM)

Founded and based in Austin, Texas, Booqoos is a next-generation online discount marketplace that simplifies the discounting process for local small- and medium-sized businesses. Based on a platform of do-it-yourself marketing tools, Booqoos provides a powerful solution for businesses to have complete control and self-management of deals to suit individual business goals, and a one-stop shop for consumers to find and consume the deals they want, when they want them. Booqoos also allows charities to easily create and execute fundraising campaigns, and matches business contributions up to 10 percent of the deal purchase price.

About the Animal Trustees of Austin

The Animal Trustees of Austin (ATA) was founded in 1993 by ten members of the Austin community who were determined to make a lasting difference for the animals of Central Texas. Initially the purpose of the organization was to provide rescue, and re-homing services for abused, stray, and surrendered animals. However, the board members quickly realized that in order to prevent the tragedy of homeless pets, they needed to tackle the problem of pet overpopulation. In response, the ATA Spay/Neuter Clinic opened in 1997. Shortly thereafter, the ATA Wellness Clinic was added to assist pet owners who wanted to keep their animals healthy, but could not afford the fees charged by veterinarians. Today, the ATA operates two full-time clinics offering spay/neuter surgeries, heartworm prevention and treatment, parasite control, dental health care, and life saving special surgeries.

America’s top-rated pet insurance provider, Petplan, warns against top holiday health hazards.

While Halloween can be fanciful fun for adults and children, it can be especially scary for four-legged family members. Here’s a nasty number: Petplan claims data reveals a 284 percent increase in claims filed for candy-related pet health issues and emergencies during Halloween week.

This year, a record 161 million Americans will partake in Halloween festivities and spend more than .9 billion on 598 million pounds of candy, according to Nielsen. And chocolate - the most poisonous candy for pets - leads the list of popular treats.

“Chocolate is one of the more dangerous household threats to pets. Generally, the darker the chocolate, the greater the hazard,” says Dr. Jules Benson, Vice President of Veterinary Services at Petplan. “Many pet parents don’t realize that as little as one ounce of chocolate can poison a medium-sized dog, so make sure candy and treats are kept in secure containers, out of reach of furry friends. If you suspect you have a canine chocoholic in the house, watch your pet for signs of poisoning, which include vomiting, increased thirst, diarrhea, weakness and hyper-excitability.”

Need more cause for caution? According to 2010 claims data from Petplan, America’s top-rated pet insurance company, the most claimed-for issues are related to gastrointestinal problems. The average cost of veterinary care related to chocolate ingestion averaged 3 per incident, and some claims even topped ,000! (That’s a lot of candy corn!)

While candy consumption is the most prevalent Halloween health risk, the holiday poses many additional dangers to pets. To keep two- and four-legged family members safer in this spooky season, Petplan would like pet parents to be aware of some additional health hazards:

Runaway Pets: If you’re expecting lots of ghosts and goblins at your door, make sure your pet isn’t tempted to go trick-or-treating with them! Consider setting up a room with water, food, toys and a comfy pet bed, where your pet can stay safe and sound. Also, make sure your pet has a microchip. The tiny chip, implanted easily in the back of your dog’s neck, will make a reunion much easier should he/she feel like haunting the neighborhood for a spell.

Pet Costumes: According to the National Retail Federation, 14.7 percent of pet parents will dress up Fido or Fluffy for the holiday. If you fall into the costuming category, be sure your pet’s vision is clear, their movement is unencumbered and that the costume is free of frills that can easily be chewed off and/or swallowed. Take temperature into account, too, as pets clothed in costumes can become overheated and dehydrated.

Candy Wrappers: Even if you’re careful to keep candy out of reach of your pet’s prying paws, beware of their wrappers, which can prove horrifyingly hazardous. They can lead to intestinal obstruction, which often requires surgery.

Raisins: Some pet parents prefer to skip candy altogether, opting to hand out mini-boxes of raisins to trick-or-treaters instead. While healthier for children, raisins are extremely poisonous to pets – especially dogs. Even in small doses, raisin consumption can cause kidney failure in four-legged family members, so treat these treats the same as you would sugary sweets.

His blood work is okay (said doctor)

I am using a reputable doctor ( he writes for the city paper)
