I like both of them a LOT, but what exactly is the difference between them?

They are two entirely different breeds. These will explain the differences:

I wouldn’t know but you could find out I am sure by just going to wikipedia.com, I have found several dogs breeds on there, but then again one of the main reasons I don’t know is because I have a poodle

A Silky is a true terrier that happens to be in the toy group. It is mostly Australian Terrier with a bit of Yorkie thrown in for coat texture only. It is more like the Aussie Terrier than the Yorkie. The Yorkie is a true toy, smaller with a square body. The Silky is longer than tall. Yorkies are docked a little longer, Silkies are docked at the 2nd joint.

Yorkies are highly energetic, loyal and affectionate. They’re clever and are often manipulative and stubborn, and they can be difficult to housebreak. They require adequate socialization as they often become aggressive toward strangers and other dogs. They require a firm leader who will not allow them to become neurotic, pushy and jealous. They’re usually very active indoors and make surprisingly good [if yappy] watchdogs. They’re also physically very fragile at about seven pounds. It’s vital that you purchase from a high-quality breeder. Backyard-bred Yorkies are a dime a dozen and are fraught with health problems. They usually live twelve to fifteen years.

Silkies are hardy, brave and intelligent. They’re very affectionate, alert and sociable. They’re typically good with humans and dogs (provided they are socialized), but they require a great deal of socialization with cats to prevent them from chasing them. They cannot usually be trusted with small animals like rodents due to their high prey drives. Considering their terrier heritage, they are hugely fond of digging, so expect your backyard to be ruined. Silkies are eager to learn, but like Yorkies, they’re smart and can become very pushy, manipulative and neurotic if you do not fill the role of leader. They can also be difficult to housebreak. They’re relatively healthy (research your breeder!), and usually eight to eleven pounds and live twelve to fifteen years.

They are very alike, but the Silky Terrier usually requires more attention. Also, Silky Terriers need more exercise. I have a Yorkie and she likes to play, but can have fun without you. Yorkies can be happy in small homes, but the Silky needs a little more space. I love my Yorkie and I recomend this breed. I hope that helps!
