How Much Would You Pay for a Siberian Husky Puppy?

by Dogs.net on August 3, 2011

Would you pay more for female or male?

Would you pay more money for AKC or CKC Siberian Husky puppy?

Would you pay more for blue eyes or brown eyes?

Would you pay more depending on the color of the dog ( Siberian Husky puppy) for example some dogs are gray and white black and white red and white, brown and white.

You would pay more for any female (especially purebred)

Either

Me personally, i would pay more for a blue eyed puppy (I think that they look beautiful with blue eyes)

Not really unless it was one of those “rareish” colors that look awesome!

I would never pay more for one gender over the other. That’s absurd that people are; A) arrogant to charge 2 different prices and B) ignorant enough to actually pay more for one or the other.

In most places it is illegal to charge more money ‘for papers’.

Our Siberian has one brown eye and one split blue and brown eye.

I would also never pay more for the coat of the dog, that’s even more stupid than paying more for gender differences. It’s like paying a white guy more for his labour than a black guy.

Normally, females are higher priced then males. It depends on what I planned on using the puppy for -showing, breeding, etc, if I would pay higher for one gender then the other. PERSONALLY, I don’t see why one gender is more expensive then the other, and I don’t know why people are willing to pay the difference.
I would not buy a puppy that was not AKC registered – do not get a puppy that is only CKC registered. It is easy to get any dog registered with them.
Eye color should NOT be a factor in the price. If the dog has green, blue, purple, orange, etc. eyes, then it should be the same price. Only backyard breeders will try and convince you that if the eyes are blue, the dog is worth more. It is NOT.
Just like eye color, the coat color should not be a factor either. The main thing is how well bred the dog is – has it’s parents been tested, are they registered, are they proven dogs with titles? Those are the things you have to consider.

Also, if you are looking for a Husky, I would recommend a rescue group or shelter. Unfortunately, many people get Huskies and they are very active dogs and great escape artists. People cannot handle them and end up giving them to a shelter/rescue. You should start your search there(:
good luck!

CKC, unless you’re Canadian, are worthless papers. They will “certify” a dog to be a purebred Unicorn, just as long as they get paid.

NO ONE with good intentions will pay different prices for coat color, eye color, or sex. I have seen breeders I consider great ask less if a puppy is badly mismarked (i.e. merle Dane) but I can’t think of another situation where I would consider that okay.

Oh, and to add, puppies with those gorgeous blue eyes may very well grow out of them. Something to think about.

Responsible breeders have set prices for their dogs wether they be male, female, blue eyes, brown eyes, black/white, brown/white, etc etc. The ONLY significant price difference will be between pet quality dogs and show/work quality dogs – they will NOT change the price due to any of the “criteria” you mentioned (although some may for gender).

And i would not pay for ContinentalKC junk – sham registry, deals with irresponsible breeders only. Nothing good quality from from ConKC. CanadianKC or AKC i would pay similar prices for, though. And my criteria for deciding what i would pay would include: show or work titles on parents, genetic testing on parents, genetic guarantee length on pup, etc etc.

I would pay upwards $1,200 for a well bred pup of ANY breed. If i didn’t want to pay that, or if i didn’t want a purebred dog, then i would adopt.

Would you pay more for female or male?

I would pay the same. There is no reason why one should cost more than the other.

Would you pay more money for AKC or CKC Siberian Husky puppy?

Obviously AKC; you can get any crap registered with the CONtinental Kennel Club. However, even some puppy mill offspring can be AKC registered, so I would only pay for a Sibe that comes from parents with show or working titles (Ch, CDX, etc.) that have passed all health clearances (OFAs for hips, elbows, and cardio, Thyroid, yearly CERF for eyes, etc.), in addition to those AKC papers.

Would you pay more for blue eyes or brown eyes?

I like blue eyes better, but reputable breeders do not breed for color, so I would not pay more for a Sibe with blue eyes.

Would you pay more depending on the color of the dog ( Siberian Husky puppy) for example some dogs are gray and white black and white red and white, brown and white.

Again, reputable breeders do not breed for color; they just breed healthy dogs that match the standard and are able to do what they were bred to do.

And wait! You obviously left out one question:

How much are you willing to pay for a Sibe from parents that are not proven (did not pass genetic testing/health clearances, and do not possess any show/working titles) bred by a backyard breeder who does not have a breed mentor, is not a member of the Siberian Club of America, and had to ask about pricing on YAHOO! ANSWERS?

Not even a penny; those puppies will be worthless, and only the ignorant will buy them! I suggest this so called “breeder” get his/her pets FIXED, because they are only PETS. I might as well adopt a Sibe puppy from a shelter/rescue then.

I would pay in the one thousands for a well bred specimen, but yours are not!

In the beginning God created evolution. January 22, 2011 at 6:43 am

1.) Male or female? I have no preference. A good breeder does not charge extra based on gender, only on breeding or non breeding contract.

2.) I would never, ever, ever pay more than shots/deworming on a pup registered with the Continental Kennel Club. It’s a puppy mill registry that backyard breeders have fallen under the delusion is legitimate and reputable and thus use it. Since you can register a piglet or a goat as a dog with them, I’m inclined to avoid them like the plague. If I were buying a purebred husky for show, work, or breeding purposes it would be AKC or UKC registered.

3.) Blue eyes are common and preferable in the breed. Two completely brown eyes is rare, but acceptable. Since a good breeder will not price based on eye color I will not pay more for blue or brown eyes, or for heterochromia.

4.) I would not pay more for color. Any color is acceptable in the Siberian Husky, and as such no color is “rare” because they are not bred for. A good breeder will not charge extra for coat color.
