We are more than likely going to adopt a sheltie/papillon mix tomorrow....does anyone have either of these dogs or a mix that could tell us what to expect in terms of obediance, affection, and temperment?
Before you start calling my future dog an "ugly mutt" I think you should know that we are adopting this dog from a private small breed rescue group that puts the animal in a foster home until a good home is available. The foster mother has had Abby for a few months and says that she is a very friendly and smart dog. The dog is also an obvious mix between the two.

I’ve had shelties…they are working dogs that need a job to do or they will herd whatever is available. they are loyal and sometimes a little over protective. they love to please and have been easy to train but you will spend a lot of time with them.
shelties are good natured; papillons have complexes. go figure how the two mixed. you’ll have a good natured dog w/ a complex?
It’s gonna be a hyper, stubborn dog. It’ll most likely be attached to one person. My co-worker has a stubborn Papillon that’s extremely attached to her and only her. And Shelties are hyper fun-loving dogs. It’s gonna be smart as a whip, so it will probably be easily trained as long as you do it properly.
There’s ABSOLUTELY ***NO WAY*** to predict ANYTHING about MUTT/MONGRELS!!! Which,of course,is the POINT of pure bred animals.
PS:shelter people are **NOTORIOUSLY** awful at guessing MUTT/MONGRELS & they’ll tell you what you want to hear.
You’ll have a hairy MUTT.
Period.
I don’t know much about pappillons but shelties are supersmart, affectionate and eager to please. Don’t listen to what that bozo said about mutts. I bet your dog will be a real charmer. Let us know.
