Sorry to hear that your pup is ill. Like most viruses, distemper is not treatable. However, some dogs do recover with good nursing care and sometimes antibiotics for secondary bacterial infections. There is a possibility of nervous-system problems later on, even if the puppy seems to recover fully. If you can provide enough food and water to keep him going, he could get better. Talk to the veterinarian for a realistic idea of what you might expect. Meanwhile, the puppy is contagious to other dogs, so you will want to isolate him and be sure not to transfer the infection on our hands, clothes, dishes, etc. Good luck.
