I used to go to dog shows with my mom when I was a kid, and I was wondering if anyone knows how the Poodle Club has changed? Is it still mainly for professional breeders (aka. puppy farmers). I'd also like to start showing my Standard Poodle, but the last time I did that was as a little girl, and the judges naturally weren't as strict, since it wasn't a 'real' dog show.

there are special training classes that you have to attend to show your dog. not only does the poodle have to learn to be “on”, which they do quite naturally, but you have to be very much involved, as the dogs performance depends on you.
Poodle clubs are for all poodle lovers, and showing a standard is great fun as they are such extroverts, but it requires full time dedication as the coat takes much care, you also need a very experienced person to trim the dog to the high show standard. Poodles are also ace at agility and other fun activities as they are so intelligent and athletic, I have a white standard that I show and it is a lot of hard work but rewarding.
