I have the greatest Miniature Schnauzer puppy named Harley. He is really a affectionate, loving, active dog. We recently had to get him fixed because he had a testacle that had not dropped and his vet was really concerned so that was our only option. Well anyways, I leave my front and back doors open at times and he can see a car from a mile away and he will constantly bark until it is out of his site. I was wondering if anyone elses schnauzer does this? And will this behavior stop with maturity?

NO!! =D My best friend of 8 years has a mini schnauzer named Jewel. She has had the dog since she was 11 years old, so the dog is almost 11 now. She STILL barks at anything and everything and will not stop.
Some Schnauzers are reactive barkers like a lot of other breeds. It won’t stop on it’s own and it could get worse as
he gets older. You need to teach him an alternative behavior such as a sit or down instead of constantly barking. Take his attention elsewhere.
Schnauzers do tend to bark at anything that moves, its a trait in the breed.
I would reccommend a bark collar that either gives them a little zap or sprays mist when they bark. Harley is probably driving all the neighbours mad.
This comes with training. I have three mini schnauzers and they are not allowed to keep up the barking only for about 2 minutes if someone comes to the door.
