Running With an Adult Miniature Schnauzer?

by Dogs.net on November 28, 2011

I have a 8 yr old adult miniature schnauzer, now they're pretty small dogs and he loves going for a walk but recently I've started running between 1.5 and 2.2 miles. I don't want to bring him if he will be too worn out or it will be too far for him, on the other hand if it would be good for him I'd love to incorporate my exercise routine with my dog's.
Any advice?

If he is young, sound, and healthy, he should be fine. It is winter so you have the advantage of him not easily overheating if you run in the morning.

If he is really overweight or you are worried, you can always start with one mile and work him up to 2.

Any healthy dog of that breed should be able to handle 2 miles.
