I have a 7 week old Miniature Schanuzer. I have had him for a week and already he is housebroke. I want him to eat the best food. What is a good puppy chow as he has a high chance of diabetes and other problems. We gave him a piece of cooked deer meat and he got the poops and vomited. Other than that he plays, sleeps all night, doesn't bark or bite.

When he is 8 weeks we will take him to the vet for his first shots and to have him microchipped.

How can I keep the stray dogs out of my yard, other than shooting them with my BB- gun? The reason for this is there is a lot of mange and other diseases and I don't want my puppy contracting them. Very few people take care of there pets around here.

Well, my mini comes from a great breeder that i know and trust, and he owns generations of dogs. I am wondering why you people would doubt that i would not register or take my pups to the vet if needed.
I would do anything.

I have a two year old miniature schnauzer that has the worst case of separation anxiety I have ever experienced!! When left alone he salivates so much his beard and paws, as well as the tile floor of the area he is left in, are soaked with slobber. He will also bang his head against the door of the area in which he is left. It is not a particularly small area either, consisting of a laundry room and my bedroom. I am starting to become very worried for his safety while I am gone. I have a DAP that is in the area and has not worked at all. I am a student and am really busy right now and don't know if I have the time for the behavioral treatment that some suggest (leave him for a minute until he doesn't react, then for five, etc), plus I don't think it would work. I am desperate for a solution, any ideas would be appreciated!
I have considered crate training him, but I didn't know how a 2-year-old would react to that.

I am flying from houston to jacksonville and want to take my schnauzer. She weights 15 lbs. The most comfortable carrier for her i think is a large sherpa. Has anyone traveled with a 15lbs dog? What carrier did you use? Was it comfortable, did it fit? I am traveling continental air.

We just went to the vet and she weighs roughly 7lbs. She's 12 and a half weeks old, not sure on the height at the moment... I know the typical adult weight range for minis, but does she seem to be larger than other mini schnauzer pups her age?

I do not understand why I would be alergic to a miniature schnauzer puppy when I had one as a child and previously as an adult. I have bathed the dog several times, but after being around it for just a few minutes, my throat gets sore, and feels clogged up, and it is difficult to swallow. Does anyone know why I would be allergic to a puppy or this breed when I previously had no problem?

Do any of you have Miniature Schnauzers? I have one at the age of around 3-4 years old. And he is always having problems with people, he barks at people in a group of 2. And barks at other dogs and he goes wild when i take him out on walks. He is always trying to mark his territories, at leaste x5 in the same places. Whenever he sees another part of the world besides my backyard, he just goes running out and dosent come back for at least 10 min. which gets me worried, and whenever there are a lot of people around he never goes running. What can i do?

Hello,
I am getting a 6 week old puppy in about 3 weeks.
The mother is a miniature schnauzer. The father is a Yorkshire terrier.
The yorkshire terrier got run over by a car after they found out the mother was pregnant.
The schnauzer does not look like a regular schnauzer.
She is white and has a short, curly coat.
Im almost POSITIVE she is a purebred schnauzer according to the owner.
I saw the puppys when they were 4 days old.
Three of them were very light brown and 3 of them were black with a few tan spots here and there.
Is that normal for a ''snorkie''?[schnauzer/yorkie mix]

im just curious...i have a miniature schnauzer and she is fully trained. lately i have been having problems with her peeing almost everywhere when someone walks by her or if she hears my mom yellling at my brother. I know its not normal, shes never done this. Should i take her to the vet and have her checked out again or is it all because she just cant control her full emotions yet? If so, is it dangerous? My mom's Chihuahua is about 12 years old, and my Schnauzer is about 3.
