How Do I Train a Labrador Retriever to Fetch Ducks?

by Dogs.net on April 11, 2012

I have a pure-breed chocolate lab that is a year old. What is a good and inexpensive way to train him to fetch ducks? He knows how to play fetch and follow directions. But how do i teach him to mark downed ducks and not to eat the duck? Also I live on a acre of land so i have plenty of room to practice with him.

I believe that you mean purebred. not pure breed. You need to work with a professional trainer, you have no idea how to train this dog, let alone train it to “fetch” ducks. An acre of land is a postage stamp when it comes to training dogs. I have 20 acres and am feeling crowded. I have working sheep dogs.
