My sister and my mother want a Jack Russell Terrier, my other sister wants a beagle and I want a golden retriever. Which is the best breed, what are the pros and cons of this breed and why is it better than the other two? Whichever answers my question the best gets best answer.

Look it up. http://dogbreedinfo.com/purebred.htm
The “best breed” depends on your ENTIRE family’s lifestyle, personality, and preferences. This is something that needs to be agreed to by EVERYONE in the family, or you should not get a dog at all.
I would say that the golden retriever is the best breed because they are very smart dogs. Beagles are also good dogs. They are meant for hunting though. A jack russell terrier…well there just annoying. lol. They bark alot! But, i beleive that golden retrievers are good, tame dogs. If they are trained that is. If you get them when there puppies its a little harder to train them. Hope i helped.

Every one of the breeds you mentioned was bred to do radically different jobs, as the breed traits are really different. I don’t recommend your family get ANY dog until you can agree on what kind of temperament and other breed traits will fit with your family environment and lifestyle.
It is not always about what kind of dog and how it looks. If the dog is a bad fit because of what it was bred for, you will all regret it.
I suggest you all start researching breeds and find out what will truly work for you. This way the dog will not end up in a shelter later.
Your parents need to make that decision, they are the ones who will be paying for the dog and have to take care of it when you & your sister may lose interest or go away to college. You would need to give a lot more information about your family’s home and life style to get any useful suggestions about which breed would be best.
oh man, no one can tell you what the best breed is, because thats a wise diversity in size and tempermane/energy. your mother does seem to want a smaller dog, same with sister. maybe they want a small size, due to space and financils. dont get to picky, how lucky your mom is even considering a puppy. i would choose a beagle, they are great family pets. goldens have a lot of energy and require grooming, long walks ect.
you should get a dog not based on what other people want or think or what is popular, but what you want. you are smart to research the pros and cons of each breed. jack russell’s I heard where very very active. I had a golden retriever mix when I was little and she was the best dog ever. loved to play, slept with me and very family oriented.
Well, I had a golden retriever and they are great dogs.PROS: big dogs, not too rowdy, always happy, are a guard dog, easy to train, love able. Cons: they shed a lot. The Jack Russel Terrier i have no experience with though. Beagles are nice dogs but do not compare to a golden retriever. Hope this Helps
Different breeds with different traits and needs – time for a family pow-wow to DISCUSS what traits you want and don’t want in a dog. Keep the mind OPEN and be honest about it – don’t even think about BREEDS just now. Only traits.
That is the best way to come to a conclusion about breeds that will keep EVERYONE happy.
Traits to consider:
Size
Coat type
Grooming needs
Shedding
Energy level
Exercise needs
Trainability
Intelligence

When you’ve decided on the TRAITS you want you can sit down and discuss breeds that MATCH those traits. All breeds have their pros and cons.
JRT (Now known as PARSON Russell Terrier just FYI)
- Pros include: small/medium size, family oriented, easy to groom
- Cons include: high energy, high prey drive, may be difficult to train
Beagle
- Pros: medium size, family oriented, sturdy
- Cons: high energy level, hard to train, not reliable off lead, prey drive, nose-driven
Golden Retriever
- Pros: Family oriented, tolerant, USUALLY child-friendly
- Cons: Medium/high energy level, shedding, medium to high grooming needs, can be hard to work with (too much energy)
The answer lies in the “how much room do we have for a dog”. The larger of the 3 is the golden retriever, is he to be a house dog or outside dog. What about exercise area? Will someone be taking the dog for walks and exercise? If the dog is a house dog then the terrier or the beagle would be the best choice. It is not a matter of breed, but the temperament of the dog. Don’t just decide on a dog and then get it, actually observe the dog to see if it is suited for you. After seeing the dogs, all 4 of you may decide to change your minds.
well i don’t have any facts but if you want a golden retriever maybe i can help you convince every one. Try showing facts about the golden retriever so many good things and they might want one too! if that doesn’t work try begging so much they cant take it and they get one, try fake (or real) crying. the best (but hardest) way is to convince them to get more than one dog. Hope that helped!
Jack Russel Terrier: This energetic and spirited dog has a lot of personality. They are loving, devoted, and filled with fun. He’s incredibly intelligent, but his wilful nature can make him difficult to train. He is friendly toward people but can be aggressive toward other dogs and any animal that resembles prey, including cats. He is fearless and won’t think twice before attacking another dog. His attention span is very short and he needs to be kept busy.
Golden Retriever:This dog is one of the most liked dog in the world. He’s highly intelligent, sociable, beautiful, lively, and loyal. This dog is very puppyish and retains much of his puppyish until he is three or four, which can sometimes be annoying. The Golden Retriever needs daily exercise: a walk or jog, free time in the yard, a run at the beach or lake (Goldens love water), or a game of fetch. This dog is a family dog and needs to be included in family affairs.
Beagle:They’re happy, outgoing and loving, inquisitive, determined, and focused on food. Being pack dogs, they generally get along well with other animals and their human friends–and they think everyone is their new best friend.
The most important thing to know about the Beagle is that he is a scenthound. His nose is the most important part of his anatomy and his head is always down to the ground, searching for an interesting trail to follow. If let off a leash and find a trail, these dogs are off in a second. These dogs are VERY energetic and need excersice twice or three times a day.
Of all these dogs I would pick Golden Retriever, then the Jack Russel Terrier than the Beagle. But that is just me. You pick for yourself. Hope I helped.
There are lots of things to consider,Large dogs take longer to mature once they do with proper training great dogs, they need a yard for proper exercise and a lot of patience cause as they grow they can be a bit clumsy and require lots of attention ,But once again with proper training this is a great dog. Most Jack Russell terriers are high energy and need to burn that energy on an hourly basis
I don’t know much about beagles except that they tend to howl a lot, and are bred to chase things. Jack Russells can be really hyperactive; I wouldn’t get one, though they’re cute. I have experience with golden retrievers and they’re the sweetest dogs on earth. They’re terrible guard dogs, but they’re happy, smiley, tail-wagging, fun-loving dogs who love to swim and play fetch, and usually get along with everyone.
First of all, you have to bear in mind that raising a dog entails a lot of responsibility. Learn more about dogs. It will be granted when the right time comes.
