How Much Do Purebreed Golden Retriever or Labrador Puppies Cost?

by Dogs.net on November 9, 2011

I am wanting to buy a Golden Retriever/Lab puppy! I am a teen and have brought a Cocker Spaniel puppy all by myself and I have paid for her shots, food, toys, cage, id tag, treats and etc.

It’s illegal for a minor, anyone under 18 years old, to purchase/adopt a dog, or for anyone to make a contract with you.

It depends on the breed, the breeder, and quality of the dog. Look at your local shelters and rescue.

If its quality, 1000$.
My family sells olde english bulldogs that have excellient quiality from 1200$-1800$ and thats actually cheap because most breeders sell for 4000$. Anyway, its all on the personality and quiality.

So if you want a GOOD dog you’ll have to pay big money. You could find a good one for 200 or somewhere along that price. Hope this helps, good luck :D

Pet quality is $200-$800. Show quality is over $800. This is from a breeder.

A back yard breeder will charge any price, but you get pet quality dogs that have poor breeding, meaning the health issues (hip dysplasia, elbow problems, arthritis in the back) are a serious concern.

The breed rescues charge $250-$400 per dog. Your animal control will be under $150 per dog. Your shelter is probably going to charge you $75 per dog.

I would suggest adopting a dog before ever buying one. By purchasining a dog through a store your only attributing to the growth and wealth of puppy mills. There are many wonderful pure breed and mixed dogs at your local shelter. Check out http://www.petfinder.com they have listings on all kind of animals.
Good luck.

I would say $400-$500 for a decent quality puppy. Show quality can easily be $1000 or more.
