I want either the gsp or Irish setter for quail and pheasant. Want are the advantages with each dog? Thanks

Shorter hair, great for warm weather bad for cold weather

Long hair, great for cold weather, bad for hot weather, constant matting of coat and snags in the brush
Other than that I have not seen a “Smart” setter in years, most of the “breeders” in this region have bred the brains out of them to make them look pretty
