What Could Cause an 8-Month Old German Shepherd Puppy to Bleed From the Penis?

by Dogs.net on December 14, 2011

It's Saturday morning and my 8 month old german shepherd puppy is showing a few drops of blood coming from the penis. He also woke me up periodically, letting out little yelps, like it would if it''s foot got stepped on. Does anyone have any ideas about this? He does have an undescended testes. I've called the vet and she said it isn't serious and can wait until next week.

could be a severe uti, but he is a bit young for that. i would take him to the vet asap if it were my dog.

please have your dog neutered, especially since he is a cryptorchid. undescended testicles have a much higher chance of turning cancerous or twisting in the abdomen.

As this could be many things like kidney problems head for the vets office as soon as you can.
Good Luck and God Bless

Do get him neutered because the undescended testicle is more likely to become cancerous.

He could have a urinary tract infection. Probably too young for any prostate problems so your vet is probably right that it isn’t serious.

Since he is yelping I am thinking that he may have injured himself while “humping”. You can gently pull back the sheath and check for cuts or abrasions.

I would also take him to the vet. This could lead to a bad infection, make sure you watch him as he goes to the bathroom, make sure nothing is touching his yerinarey part. Give him a good amount of water and make sure he isn’t eating anything that woul cause that (hard things or poky things).

make sure you give reasurince and attention.
