With raising your new pet it is best to follow all the border collie training tips that you can get your hands on. The border collie is considered to be the most incredible dogs to train out of every single dog breed. They are very fast at picking up and learning new tricks. They are capable of being house trained at a very young age.

The challenge that most owners deal with is with the collie having soo much energy. It is a good idea to give him as much open space as possible so that he can get all the exercise he can. With an open area he will be more than willing to learn any new tricks you are willing to teach him.

The collie was actually known as a sheep dog. They are extremely agile and are capable of quick cornering and rapidly changing directions at their will. They have a very thick coat and are capable of surviving in very cold temperatures for long periods of time.

The upkeep for a collie is fairly minimal. You do need to make sure they are groomed well since they have a long coat. If the coat is not brushed every few days then it can actually knot at the bottom and eventually become painful for your pet. You should try and avoid giving him a bath very often. Your collie has a unique coat that has protective oils and with giving him a bath it washes these oils away.

The key to training your pet is to make sure that you praise him as often as you possibly can. When you praise your collie he knows that he is doing a great job and will do all that he can to make sure that you praise him again. This is very important with teaching him any new tricks or duties. After he starts learning you should praise him every time he completes the task you want until he recognizes what you are trying to teach him.

This is only a small example of border collie training tips that will form a great bond between you and your pet. Following them closely will ensure your collie will be well trained and obedient to your requests.

HUNTING THE RIGHT HOUND
But despite what those who breed and sell crossbreeds might try to tell you, these are not, nor will they likely ever be, recognized as purebred dogs. Sporting dogs that are alert, active and intelligent have historically been used by hunters to locate, flush or retrieve game from land or water. That's part of the fun.
