Please take your puppy to the vet asap!

No puppy should ever leave it’s mother before 8 weeks and will do better at 10 weeks.
Whoever sold this puppy to you this young should take this puppy back until it is 9 weeks old. Your state may have laws against selling puppies that young. I can’t stress enough how the mother’s milk helps puppys’ immune systems and at 6 weeks they should still be getting a little milk.

There are a lot of things that could be going on with the puppy such as distemper or a cold, and you need urgent intervening to save it’s life and help with caring for it when it is pulled from it’s mom so young.

Good luck, I hope he turns out to be ok. If not, please get a refund and don’t be afraid to report the breeder if they don’t refund you.

Call the breeder and tell them of the puppy’s condition. Now I hope you bought from a responsible breeder, one who has the parents on-site, and provided to you a health guarantee, which can range anywhere from 2 – 6 weeks depending. They can offer you the best advice.

Otherwise, it may just be that your puppy is nervous/excited. He is in a new home, new people, new smells. Keep it quiet, don’t have a lot of interaction, especially with young kids. You want to have him adjust to your home slowly, and he should relax.

I strongly reccommend crate training if you haven’t started already.

Firstly your puppy is very young to leave home. Most reputable breeders, in the UK, wait till the pups are 8 weeks old before allowing them to leave. That aside, Bulldogs are one of the few breeds that are born looking like a miniature adult dog. The adults all breathe heavily and also snore loudlly. I think it is quite likely that your puppy is fine, but if you have any doubts at all ring your puppy’s breeder and ask for advice. Also arrange for the vet to give your new pet a thorough examination to ensure he is completely healthy.

I wish you many years of joy and companionship from your puppy.

I agree with Ricky H, but one thing that can also be a factor is the heat. When I got a 5 mos. old bulldog pup about 4 1/2 years ago, we had a power outage for 4 days with no air conditioning when it was very hot and our pup actually passed out because it couldn’t breath. They are very heavy breathers because of their facial structure and can not take the heat well as well as heavy excersize. Also, they have a very difficult time if they have to vomit. I would contact your breeeder and let them know that they didn’t educate you very well about the breed you chose. You did choose a very complicated breed for a first pup. I also wanted to tell you that the bulldog is the #1 breed for hip dysplasia. Good luck with your new pup and make sure you take him to the vet for an exam asap.

bulldogs are notorious for heavy breathing. they have extra soft tissue in there upper airway that can occlude the respiratory passages. if severe enough it can cause exercise intolerance and oxygenation issues. have a vet check it out and make sure he also doesnt have any upper respiratory infections that can exacerbate the situation.
