What Are Some Differences Between a Pitbull Puppy and a Boxer Puppy?

by Dogs.net on December 20, 2011

My family recently adopted an 8 week old puppy. The adoption agency said they think he is a boxer mix but arent sure. Some people who have seen him swear he is a pitbull. Are there any physical characteristics that can tell us what he he?
How can I post a pic of him?

No, in a word, have some common sense. This is an 8 week old puppy, how can the adoption agency not be sure? The dam only gave birth 8 weeks ago so why does nobody have any idea what breed she is? Sheesh.

Just because some people think that he is a pitbull means nothing, trying to identify any 8week old pup is going to be hard, they are basically just talking out of their bottoms.

I have both. Boxers have shorter muzzles, but if it’s a boxer mix his muzzle could be longer than it should be.

You aren’t really going to be able to tell, at least tell it gets a lot older. A lot of people tell me my boxer is a pit bull. She’s purebred AKC registered. So don’t listen to what people say :)

Boxer’s muzzles are shorter and depending on the color of the coat you can tell also. Boxers are often tan w/ darker muzzle, can be brindle and white. Both have short fur that feel about the same.

The agency clearly have no idea what breeds make up your puppy.

If they can’t tell you, then no one can.

All i can suggest is either posting a pic OR checking out pictures of pitbulls and boxers and seeing if your puppy look like either.
