Dog is a lovely and faithful animal. The pet seems even more adorable when it behaves gently and to achieve this Dog Training should always be sought from a Professional Dog Behaviorist We often think that we ourself can train our pup or dog. But believe me this is not a child's , we need a Professional Dog behaviorist or a Dog trainer. Poor dog training makes your dog undisciplined It causes serious nuisance and a destructive effect on the relationship between the dog and its owner.Hence, an effective dog training is paramount for pet's safety and quality of life of the dog and its owner as well. Would you risk your dog's life and health by being irresponsible in imparting it a proper Dog Training. So, its better to consult a Professional Dog behaviourist for training purpose.

A Dog behaviourist knows well how to train the dog .An Effective Dog training is compatible. The training is good to be started at an early age i.e when they are still puppies. The Professionals conduct Puppy Training Seminars to train the puppies. It is advisable to let the Dog be trained by one Dog behaviourist only. If the Dog will be exposed to different trainers then this can confuse the Dog and hamper its training process.Effective dog training should be fun. Well, can you imagine how fun it is for an employee or trainer dog training school then that one day he or she must proceed to training dogs for more than 5 dogs per day.

A Professional Dog behaviourist judges this as a profession and therefore always tries to give his/her 100% and deliver the best results. Furthermore the Dog Training continues for a definite time period which offers greater intensity. On the contrary, if you train your Dog on your own without any professional advice then that is more time consuming. The success rate in case of domestic training depends majorly on the motivation, perseverance and availability of the owner. Sometimes, it may not be possible for the owner to trian its dog on a daily basis. Due to this reason, Dog Training should always be sought from a Professional Dog behaviourist. Unlike always, Dog training may show unusual results in some cases. In some cases these kind of short trainings prove inadequate for new dogs and hence the credibility of these trainers remains under strong doubt.

Your Dog should at least 6 months old to seek a Professional Dog Training from a Dog Behaviourist. This is very important indeed. Your Dog will learn to socialize under the training and supervision of a Professional Dog Behaviourist. You will find that in these classes, your dog can socialize with other dogs and that makes it more enjoyable and libertarian. This is starting of the process of getting him rid of his own perennial habits But please dont forget to ensure that the Professional Dog Behaviourist or Dog Trainers behave well and gently with your loved pet. Remember, dogs should never be punished or even reprimanded. This can make them grow extremely aggressive or fearful.

Now the matter of concern is that from where should you get a Professional Dog behaviourist for training purpose.where should you go? Well, you can easily find Dog Training centres in your city or a nearby are or you can consult a vetenerian as well . You must also be cautious and use your own discretion when selecting. In case you want to bring a Professional Dog Behaviourist at your home you require to find the coach who is qualified enough to work with your dog. Save surplus training time and expense by giving a little intial training to your dog to obey his/her Trainer. It is much easier to train a obedient dog. For fetching more information on Professional Dog Training,Dog Behaviourist, Puppy Training Seminars, see http://www.good-dogs.co.uk/ . You will get great help from there.

Feeding dogs raw food is a topic that has been hotly debated a great deal by its advocates and critics. The real issue that needs to be the topic of conversation is processed versus fresh food for dogs and not so much whether the food is raw or cooked.

But because of the unique qualities that characterize each of our pets, there are probably as many distinct nutritional requirements as there are dogs on the planet. With that said, I believe that pet nutrition, in order to keep your dog healthy, should be based on some common sense principles.

Principle #1: Only feed your dog ingredients that are packed with nutrients of the highest quality.

Principle #2: Your dog's meals should be prepared in accordance with a precise formula so that the nutrition it provides is balanced and complete.

Principle #3: To retain as much of the nutrient value of the food as possible so that the nutrients are readily absorbed by your dog's body, serve it food that is processed as little as possible.

Principle #4: Another way to preserve the food's nutrient value and keep it from spoiling is to feed your dog immediately after the food is prepared.

I would really like to hear an explanation from anyone who does not agree with these common sense principles.

The degree to which your dog's food is processed (Principle #3) is at the heart of the matter. The main reason why fresh food advocates like myself dislike processed dog food so much, whether it is canned or dry, is that the high temperatures required to manufacture commercial dog food destroys the nutrients in it. To rectify this problem, dog food manufacturers add synthetic vitamins to the food, artificial chemicals that a dog's body has a hard time absorbing. "Organic" or "natural" kibble to me is an oxymoron, and I have a good laugh whenever I see those words on a dog food package because all of the valuable nutrients one would expect to find in organic or natural dog food are destroyed by the processing required to create commercial kibble.

Individuals who feed their dogs only raw food argue that any kind of processing, including light cooking, jeopardizes the food's nutritional value. On the other hand, critics of the raw food diet would argue that dogs who eat it are more likely to consume pathogens such as E. coli and salmonella that are often found in uncooked meat. There is probably some value to each argument, but when deciding which way to go, you have to consider what you are going to give up by choosing one diet over the other.

The digestive system of a dog, according to trustworthy experts I have spoken with, is quite capable of handling the normal quantities of bacteria that may be found in uncooked meat. On the other hand, a lot of those same experts will tell you that only a small amount of damage occurs to nutrients that are the most sensitive to heat when meals are cooked lightly enough to get rid of any harmful pathogens.

Therefore, you really don't have to make a choice between the two approaches. Each pet owners has to decide on his or her own what to feed their dogs.

A good rule of thumb to follow is to feed your dog food that has been processed as little as possible. Most dogs can handle eating raw food that has been subjected to no processing whatsoever.

But there are a few dogs who need to be fed cooked food because their sensitive digestive systems simply cannot break down raw food very easily. Nor should dogs that have a high risk of getting sick from pathogens be fed raw food, and this would include dogs whose immune systems are in a weakened state or who live with people who have weak immune systems. And then you have those finicky dogs who insist on eating only cooked food. The best way to go with these dogs is to serve them food that has been lightly cooked.

Approximately two thirds of our customers whom we surveyed report that they feed their dogs raw food, while a third of them serve cooked meals to their dogs. Not only did neither group report that their dogs suffered any health complications, but they also saw significant improvements in the health of their pets compared to when they were fed dry dog food.

Working up a lather over whether you should feed your dog cooked or raw food is unnecessary. It's absolutely okay if you feel more at ease serving your dog food that you have lightly cooked. Do your best to avoid highly processed dry dog food and, instead, serve your pets fresh food, whether you cook it lightly or feed it to them raw.

A cute little puppy is a great addition to your house. This cute cuddly wonder will fill your house with happiness. If you are thinking of bringing a puppy to your home, you could adopt a puppy from a local animal shelter or you could get a puppy from a reputable breeder. In this article we are going to focus on adopting a puppy from a shelter.

There are several animal rescue centers that provide dogs to people who want to adopt dogs. These dogs require home and love. If you think that only ‘problem dogs’ are available in these shelters, then you are wrong.

It is sad but true that many older and adolescent dogs are thrown into these shelters every day. These also include unwanted puppies and puppies abandoned by their mom-dogs. You would be surprised to find purebred dogs and puppies in most of these animal shelters.

According to a research conducted, there are around more than eight million surrendered dogs each year in the United States. Adopting these dogs will provide them a house of their own. These homeless puppies are innocent and want a loving home where they can get love from their family members. Many of these dogs are as healthy as you can buy from any breeder.

You need to spend a lot of money when buying a purebred puppy from a breeder. You may have to spend somewhere around six hundreds dollars or more. However, if you buy a purebred puppy from a dog shelter, you can save a lot of money. These puppies are available for anywhere between an amount ranging from seventy five dollars to a hundred dollars. You can pay even less for mix breed puppy.

You can also save a lot of money in other ways when you purchase a puppy from rescue center. First and foremost, these puppies are spayed and even provided all of their shots. You can also get discounts on several privileges including training classes for puppies.

Another important thing is that you would be giving a new life to someone. You may not know but the fact is that millions of dogs are euthanized each year. These dogs are perfectly fine. The only problem they face is lack of family and a home.

Once you adopt a homeless puppy, it will prove to be the perfect mate for you. You can adopt little puppies, adolescent ones and older pups according to your desire. This depends on whether you want to take care of the dog from a very younger age or buy a trained one to stay out of hassles of obedience training a dog.

Adopting a puppy will let you do something for a creature that is living in misery for no fault of his. It is a life saving matter. All you require to do is to give a home of some love to the adopted pup and it will prove to be a perfect mate for you.

So next time you decide to purchase a purebred dog from a breeder, think twice. Try to visit a dog shelter and have a look at some cute little puppies that are waiting for someone to take them home. Take home a friend for yourself. Adopt a puppy!

Are these questions coming to your mind?

What is pet dog abandonment? Why people abandon their pet dog? What are the consequences of abandoning a pet dog? I have no option other than to leave abandon my pet, is there any better alternatives or ways of doing it? Is there anyone who can adopt my pet or anyone who can help in this process? Is there any animal welfare societies, organizations associated with dog sheltering, dog adoption?

Abandonment means to leave something with no intention of returning. Dog abandonment means to leave your pet forever. Dogs are taken to a far place and left there so they cannot return back. Many a times they are left in some of the forests/jungles or to a roadside and left to the mercy of god where they have no food or shelter. These abandoned pet dogs have different way of living and cannot cope up with the harsh situations of the forest and cannot compete with the other animals. Moreover animals have the habit to make and live in their territory, so they don't allow the newly abandoned dog to share their place leading to fight which might result into severe injuries and sometimes the dog may even die. Other times the dogs may run and come to some unknown surroundings or may get hit by some vehicle and met with some automobile accident. They may also eat something poisonous when hungry as their natural instincts are not so developed because of living in human vicinity and may even die. Some of the dogs survive and add to the so called stray dog population. The population of stray dogs in India is increasing alarmingly due to uncontrolled reproduction among stray dog population adding to which is increasing trend of dog abandonment. So animal birth control (ABC) programme has been instituted where females are spayed and males are castrated to curb over population of stray dogs. Dog owners should at least look for a new home or shelter for their pets so that they can at least live safely.

Reasons behind it

People give a variety of reasons to abandon their dogs some of them are like

The most common of them at least in India is being the economic reasons as people say they have poor living standards and cannot feed the dogs.

A member of the family may die and others don't want to keep the dog.

Owners may shift from one place to the other and may not take pets with them because of long distance, lack of means of transport of the pet or they simply don't want to.

A dog may get some health problem and unable to meet expenses associated, the owner think to abandon their dog or may even think to kill/ euthanize the dog.

Some owners complain of allergies with dog hair, problem with excessive barking and even some owners complain of hyperactivity which causes problem in living societies.

Sometimes dog breeders abandon such puppies which do not meet the breed standards thereby increasing breeders expense in rearing those pups which have no or very less sale value.

A pet purchased on the spur of the moment or as a gift for another person. Often the owner discovers that caring for the pet is much more work than expected, or requires more space or exercise than they are prepared to give.

Pet leaves home or cannot find its way back, and carries no identification tags or microchip. The owner does not succeed in finding it (or makes no attempt to do so).

People leave the country; quarantine laws in some countries can be traumatic to pets and owners, so to avoid the stress, the pet is surrendered to an animal shelter.

Consequences of dog abandonment

The dogs are very emotionally attached to their owners and the family they are living in; to abandon them means to separate them of their family. Just think how a child will feel if left alone in unknown surroundings without food water and shelter!

The very first thing about dog abandonment is that it is unethical and against the law. It leads to increase in stray population of dogs. Municipality of our place will just collect the stray dogs and further handle the issue. It is illegal even for a municipality to round up stray dogs and abandon them outside city limits, as it places them in circumstances likely to cause their death from starvation and thirst. Therefore, you should not do this as it can be challenged in the court.

Previously, municipalities would kill these animals (mainly dogs) cruelly by electrocution, starvation and burying alive. After 1992, it became illegal for municipalities to kill stray dogs. The High Courts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mumbai and several other states have specifically forbidden the killing of stray dogs and have directed the municipality to introduce a sensible sterilisation programme instead.

Alternatives/ Better Ways

If you are thinking of separating your pet from you then there are better ways also. You should look for a shelter for your dog. There are a number of ways to do this if one wants. One of the methods is to look for another house for your pet among your neighbor or relatives. Other way is to send the pet to some shelter house where they can be kept. There are shelter houses for dogs which are helping for the dog adoption to the people who want to get a pet. So next time you are looking to bring a pet to your home, please go to a nearby shelter house and adopt a dog instead of buying the new one so that these speechless creatures can get a home to live and bond with.

It has several advantages that now you don't have to spend the money to buy a new pet. The other thing is that now you can get a well trained dog. Above all you will get a mental satisfaction for giving home to a pet which no money can buy.

Societies/Organizations- A Helping Hand

There are many societies and NGOs operating in India and abroad which can help you http://weforanimals.com Organizations like the BlueCross society http://bluecrossofindia.org are working throughout India to help give shelter to the animals and help in dog adoption. Pablo's Dog Adoption Foundation India is a group that brings together all animals, mongrel lovers, adopters worldwide http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21048859101 . There are no kill societies which will keep the dog but not kill them unlike the other shelter houses which were working earlier where dogs were euthanized after a particular period of time.

Problems Associated With Adoption

Lack of awareness is the main reason. Many people don't know if there is any such procedure where you can send your pet to shelter house and look for another home by dog adoption.

Lack of responsibility is the other main problem associated. Unless you feel your responsibility for these lovely creatures, you cannot do anything but to abandon them. One should at least think once before doing this cruelty!

Many people have this query if the adopted dog will go well in their house. Dogs are very intelligent and are very fast learners. If taught with love, they will follow you sincerely. Moreover, the shelter houses should observe a pet/dog/animal for at least a week and tell the prospective owner about behavior of the particular animal.

Benefits behind Sheltering and adoption

First of all and most importantly it will control the population of stray dogs.

Secondly the cruelty against the dogs and a possible risk to a life can be averted.

You can save a life and get a chance to give home to a homeless dog, also called the Man's best friend.

You can get the dog for free and don't have to purchase it.

You can get well trained and grown up dogs and can escape with the initial training required when a small pup is first of all brought to the home.

Raise a Voice

It is high time to stop this malpractice of dog abandonment among people of India as it is inhumane, cruel and leads to increase in stray dog population. The better measures like dog sheltering, dog adoption, ABC progamme should be instituted all over India. Apart from that, some awareness campaigns are required so that more people know about this and stop this. Be a part of it and try to save a life!

If you are feeding your dog a homemade dog food diet, or are considering doing so, it's vital to use the correct portions of the right ingredients and make homemade dog food that is correctly formulated to ensure your dog stays healthy.

That's why using any old recipe you stumble across on the Internet to prepare your best friend's homemade dog food can be troublesome. Be sure to carefully assess any homemade dog food recipe you are thinking of using to make your dog's food and ensure that it includes the right amount of the right ingredients to in turn ensure that your dog will be eating a well-balanced, healthy diet that totally meets their nutritional needs.

So what key ingredients should you be on the look out for in healthy homemade dog food recipes?

The standard formula for well-balanced nutritious homemade dog food is about 50 percent protein, 25 percent vegetables (finely chopped or pureed for ease of digestion), and 25 percent grain (like oatmeal or brown rice). Add in some supplements of vitamins, minerals, and oils rich in omega-3 for healthy skin and coat as well.

And exactly what kinds of foods should be included?

Excellent candidates for inclusion in your homemade dog food recipes include both raw and cooked meats, cooked grains, cooked eggs, cooked veggies and most fruits are fine to include as well. Be sure to stay clear of grapes though. To be even more specific...

1. Chicken, turkey, fish and beef - Dogs need heaps of protein, and meat is a terrific way to get it. As mentioned previously, meat should be the bulk of your dog's diet. Want to make your own dog food as promptly and easily as possible? Then choose ground beef or turkey as they are already conveniently chopped up for you. It's best to cook all meats, but this is specially important for ground meats as there are lots of surfaces in ground meat upon which dangerous bacteria can grow.

2. Eggs - Eggs are an amazing protein source and they are as good for your dog as they are for you. Raw eggs frequently carry harmful bacterial growth, so be sure to scramble them or hard-boil them before inclusion so as not to contaminate your homemade dog food recipe with an ingredient that may potentially be unsafe for your pooch.

3. Chopped Fresh Veggies - Essential and trace vitamins and minerals of all sorts are waiting within vegetables, and you want to make sure your dog gets a wide variety of them. As mentioned earlier, finely chop or puree them to enable easy digestion. Winning veggies to include are kale, celery, carrots, cucumbers and zucchini. Peas and spinach are also popular puppy pleasers.

4. Starch – While many people fail to include it, homemade dog food recipes should contain some starch. Don't forget about some energy-producing items like baked or boiled potatoes and boiled or steamed brown rice. Carbohydrates like these provide sustained energy that will help ensure your dog has plenty of energy between meals.

Are there any ingredients that should be avoided in homemade dog food recipes?

Yes! Don't include onions, chocolate, avocados, nuts or garlic. Never include grapes or raisins either. For a variety of reasons and in a variety of ways, these foods can make your dog sick. But there's lots more you need to know about what to avoid.

Click on the more information link at the bottom of this page to access a complete list of 33 human foods that are toxic to dogs.

If you want to skip the learning curve, or you just don't want to take any risks when it comes to your dog's health, then ideally you should get these expertly-developed homemade dog food recipes now.

Will your dog be glad to switch to homemade dog food?

Sure, but you'll need to do it gradually. Without question your pooch will soon be very appreciative of the extra tasty, super high quality food you are serving him or her up, made from healthy natural ingredients, prepared using wisely selected safe, nutritionally-balanced homemade dog food recipes.

Please note though, it's quite common for dogs to encounter a temporary stomach upset throughout a diet switch. If that's the case, it could mean you're trying to make the switch too fast. For most dogs, though, you can make the change in three or four days, but don't be afraid to play it safe and take longer, mixing a little more homemade dog food in with your pet's regular food each day.

Select the best ingredients you can find, avoid things that are harmful and make the change over go as smoothly as possible. When you start using healthy homemade dog food recipes for your pooch's meals, you'll have a happier, healthier dog that will live longer than those whose owners feed them chemical-laden commercial dog foods.

If you haven't done so already, make the change to healthy homemade dog food today and relish the additional years you'll have with your precious pooch.

Most dogs will have a tick or two at least once in their life time, but that doesn't make ticks on dogs any more pleasant for a concerned dog owner. After all, ticks on dogs are the number of reason for lyme disease in dogs, a debilitating disease that can put an early end to your pet's life. If you see that your best friend has a tick, here is some information on how to treat ticks on dogs.

What are Ticks?

Ticks can be described as being an oversized flea, and they are usually dark to light grey in color. As ticks on dogs suck the blood from your dog's body, it grows in size and becomes a darker color. While ticks on dogs may at first be mistaken as just being a mere bug that will wander off on its own, if you even give the tick an hour or two on your dog's skin, you will notice a large difference in the size of the tick.

Why it is Important to get rid of Ticks on Dogs

Though there are only a number of ticks that can actually cause a number of dog diseases, it is still important to be vigilant in removing any ticks on dogs so as to prevent a number of dangerous diseases, such as ehrlichiosis.

How to Get Rid of Ticks on Dogs

If you live in a wooded or forested area, then it is important to be particularly aware of your dog possibly coming home with a tick or two. Tick season runs from April to September, so during this time of year it may be a good idea to try and limit your dog's exposure to tick-infested areas. Ticks can almost always be found in tall grass and very dense lower vegetation.

The best way to try and prevent ticks on dogs is to use a preventative product that will kill both ticks and fleas. These products can either come in a pill form that can be taken orally, or you can apply a product directly to the back of your pet's neck.

If you happen to find a tick on your dog, then grab a pair of tweezers and grasp the head of the tick right where it attaches to the skin. Make sure you wear gloves while doing this so as to protect yourself. Pull on the tick gently, but use steady pressure. Do not yank any ticks on dogs, as this will simply leave part of the tick behind which can cause an infection. Once the tick is removed, dab a little bit of disinfectant on the bitten area, and then kill the flea by placing it in rubbing alcohol, or any other similar alcoholic product.
