A cute little puppy is a great addition to your house. This cute cuddly wonder will fill your house with happiness. If you are thinking of bringing a puppy to your home, you could adopt a puppy from a local animal shelter or you could get a puppy from a reputable breeder. In this article we are going to focus on adopting a puppy from a shelter.

There are several animal rescue centers that provide dogs to people who want to adopt dogs. These dogs require home and love. If you think that only ‘problem dogs’ are available in these shelters, then you are wrong.

It is sad but true that many older and adolescent dogs are thrown into these shelters every day. These also include unwanted puppies and puppies abandoned by their mom-dogs. You would be surprised to find purebred dogs and puppies in most of these animal shelters.

According to a research conducted, there are around more than eight million surrendered dogs each year in the United States. Adopting these dogs will provide them a house of their own. These homeless puppies are innocent and want a loving home where they can get love from their family members. Many of these dogs are as healthy as you can buy from any breeder.

You need to spend a lot of money when buying a purebred puppy from a breeder. You may have to spend somewhere around six hundreds dollars or more. However, if you buy a purebred puppy from a dog shelter, you can save a lot of money. These puppies are available for anywhere between an amount ranging from seventy five dollars to a hundred dollars. You can pay even less for mix breed puppy.

You can also save a lot of money in other ways when you purchase a puppy from rescue center. First and foremost, these puppies are spayed and even provided all of their shots. You can also get discounts on several privileges including training classes for puppies.

Another important thing is that you would be giving a new life to someone. You may not know but the fact is that millions of dogs are euthanized each year. These dogs are perfectly fine. The only problem they face is lack of family and a home.

Once you adopt a homeless puppy, it will prove to be the perfect mate for you. You can adopt little puppies, adolescent ones and older pups according to your desire. This depends on whether you want to take care of the dog from a very younger age or buy a trained one to stay out of hassles of obedience training a dog.

Adopting a puppy will let you do something for a creature that is living in misery for no fault of his. It is a life saving matter. All you require to do is to give a home of some love to the adopted pup and it will prove to be a perfect mate for you.

So next time you decide to purchase a purebred dog from a breeder, think twice. Try to visit a dog shelter and have a look at some cute little puppies that are waiting for someone to take them home. Take home a friend for yourself. Adopt a puppy!

Are these questions coming to your mind?

What is pet dog abandonment? Why people abandon their pet dog? What are the consequences of abandoning a pet dog? I have no option other than to leave abandon my pet, is there any better alternatives or ways of doing it? Is there anyone who can adopt my pet or anyone who can help in this process? Is there any animal welfare societies, organizations associated with dog sheltering, dog adoption?

Abandonment means to leave something with no intention of returning. Dog abandonment means to leave your pet forever. Dogs are taken to a far place and left there so they cannot return back. Many a times they are left in some of the forests/jungles or to a roadside and left to the mercy of god where they have no food or shelter. These abandoned pet dogs have different way of living and cannot cope up with the harsh situations of the forest and cannot compete with the other animals. Moreover animals have the habit to make and live in their territory, so they don't allow the newly abandoned dog to share their place leading to fight which might result into severe injuries and sometimes the dog may even die. Other times the dogs may run and come to some unknown surroundings or may get hit by some vehicle and met with some automobile accident. They may also eat something poisonous when hungry as their natural instincts are not so developed because of living in human vicinity and may even die. Some of the dogs survive and add to the so called stray dog population. The population of stray dogs in India is increasing alarmingly due to uncontrolled reproduction among stray dog population adding to which is increasing trend of dog abandonment. So animal birth control (ABC) programme has been instituted where females are spayed and males are castrated to curb over population of stray dogs. Dog owners should at least look for a new home or shelter for their pets so that they can at least live safely.

Reasons behind it

People give a variety of reasons to abandon their dogs some of them are like

The most common of them at least in India is being the economic reasons as people say they have poor living standards and cannot feed the dogs.

A member of the family may die and others don't want to keep the dog.

Owners may shift from one place to the other and may not take pets with them because of long distance, lack of means of transport of the pet or they simply don't want to.

A dog may get some health problem and unable to meet expenses associated, the owner think to abandon their dog or may even think to kill/ euthanize the dog.

Some owners complain of allergies with dog hair, problem with excessive barking and even some owners complain of hyperactivity which causes problem in living societies.

Sometimes dog breeders abandon such puppies which do not meet the breed standards thereby increasing breeders expense in rearing those pups which have no or very less sale value.

A pet purchased on the spur of the moment or as a gift for another person. Often the owner discovers that caring for the pet is much more work than expected, or requires more space or exercise than they are prepared to give.

Pet leaves home or cannot find its way back, and carries no identification tags or microchip. The owner does not succeed in finding it (or makes no attempt to do so).

People leave the country; quarantine laws in some countries can be traumatic to pets and owners, so to avoid the stress, the pet is surrendered to an animal shelter.

Consequences of dog abandonment

The dogs are very emotionally attached to their owners and the family they are living in; to abandon them means to separate them of their family. Just think how a child will feel if left alone in unknown surroundings without food water and shelter!

The very first thing about dog abandonment is that it is unethical and against the law. It leads to increase in stray population of dogs. Municipality of our place will just collect the stray dogs and further handle the issue. It is illegal even for a municipality to round up stray dogs and abandon them outside city limits, as it places them in circumstances likely to cause their death from starvation and thirst. Therefore, you should not do this as it can be challenged in the court.

Previously, municipalities would kill these animals (mainly dogs) cruelly by electrocution, starvation and burying alive. After 1992, it became illegal for municipalities to kill stray dogs. The High Courts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mumbai and several other states have specifically forbidden the killing of stray dogs and have directed the municipality to introduce a sensible sterilisation programme instead.

Alternatives/ Better Ways

If you are thinking of separating your pet from you then there are better ways also. You should look for a shelter for your dog. There are a number of ways to do this if one wants. One of the methods is to look for another house for your pet among your neighbor or relatives. Other way is to send the pet to some shelter house where they can be kept. There are shelter houses for dogs which are helping for the dog adoption to the people who want to get a pet. So next time you are looking to bring a pet to your home, please go to a nearby shelter house and adopt a dog instead of buying the new one so that these speechless creatures can get a home to live and bond with.

It has several advantages that now you don't have to spend the money to buy a new pet. The other thing is that now you can get a well trained dog. Above all you will get a mental satisfaction for giving home to a pet which no money can buy.

Societies/Organizations- A Helping Hand

There are many societies and NGOs operating in India and abroad which can help you http://weforanimals.com Organizations like the BlueCross society http://bluecrossofindia.org are working throughout India to help give shelter to the animals and help in dog adoption. Pablo's Dog Adoption Foundation India is a group that brings together all animals, mongrel lovers, adopters worldwide http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21048859101 . There are no kill societies which will keep the dog but not kill them unlike the other shelter houses which were working earlier where dogs were euthanized after a particular period of time.

Problems Associated With Adoption

Lack of awareness is the main reason. Many people don't know if there is any such procedure where you can send your pet to shelter house and look for another home by dog adoption.

Lack of responsibility is the other main problem associated. Unless you feel your responsibility for these lovely creatures, you cannot do anything but to abandon them. One should at least think once before doing this cruelty!

Many people have this query if the adopted dog will go well in their house. Dogs are very intelligent and are very fast learners. If taught with love, they will follow you sincerely. Moreover, the shelter houses should observe a pet/dog/animal for at least a week and tell the prospective owner about behavior of the particular animal.

Benefits behind Sheltering and adoption

First of all and most importantly it will control the population of stray dogs.

Secondly the cruelty against the dogs and a possible risk to a life can be averted.

You can save a life and get a chance to give home to a homeless dog, also called the Man's best friend.

You can get the dog for free and don't have to purchase it.

You can get well trained and grown up dogs and can escape with the initial training required when a small pup is first of all brought to the home.

Raise a Voice

It is high time to stop this malpractice of dog abandonment among people of India as it is inhumane, cruel and leads to increase in stray dog population. The better measures like dog sheltering, dog adoption, ABC progamme should be instituted all over India. Apart from that, some awareness campaigns are required so that more people know about this and stop this. Be a part of it and try to save a life!

Adopting a shelter dog will not start and end with picking your future best friend at an pet shelter or a rescue group. It's more than giving a homeless animal with a caring family either. There are many things that go into the adoption process, which will define your long-term relationship with the animal you want to adopt.

Selection Process

This is purely according to your choices. Puppy owners, in general, have their hearts set for a specific type of dog or a specific breed when preparing to adopt. Some have their hearts set on purebreds, others are thrilled to take home mutts or mixed breeds. There are many, however, who don't have a certain idea of what pet dog to adopt.

As guide, there needs to be a minimum of three characteristics that you should look for in a pup. First, are the things that you want in the pet you are to adopt. Second, are the things that you want but can definitely live without. And finally, the unacceptable qualities that you don't want your future pup to have.

For would-be owners who want to be very certain with the type of dog they would adopt, the following features could help with identifying the best dog that would match their personal preferences:

Breed - Purebred or mutt?

Size - Big, midsize, small, or little?

Activity level - High-energy or low-energy?

Grooming and maintenance - High-maintenance or low-maintenance?

Exercise needs - Plenty or not so much?

Age - Puppies, adult or senior?

You will do no wrong if you categorize the available dogs in the rescue homes or animal shelters under these criteria.

Source Of The Pup

There are, in general, three places from where you can adopt a canine friend - from an animal shelter, from a breed-specific dog rescue group, and from general pet rescue group. Dog shelters often serve as temporary shelters for dogs that were rescued from the streets. Rescue groups, meanwhile, house dogs in home-like settings where the dogs are observed and taken care of.

Go over your prospective resources beforehand. Most of them have websites which can provide a great deal of information about their available dogs. Also, check their actual facilities. These should provide clean homes, safe environment and loving treatment for the dogs. If the facility seems suspicious, leave it and check out the next.

Applying For Dog Adoption

Although there are hundreds of dogs that need new homes, most organizations don't just allow their dogs to leave their facilities without first requiring you to undergo the formal process of adoption.

The majority of rescue homes and animal shelters have policies that require you to apply for puppy adoption. They do this to ensure that their dogs don't end up in the wrong hands. Fortunately, it is not hard to get approved.

During the application process, ask for the fees you have to pay. Most organizations charge more or less 0 for their dogs. If they charge more, be suspicious.

Bringing Your New Pup Home

Your long-term commitment with your new best friend begins once he steps into your door. The first few weeks after the adoption process are expected to be rough as the canine friend adjusts to his new environment. Once you have established a bond with the furry friend, you can gradually start training or preparing him for a life ahead that is shared with you.

Favorite borrowing is how peoples try to care for animate beings that have been forsaken, failed, clapper clawed, lost or differently are dispossessed. If new domiciles are n't found oneself for them there are government agencies that will take them into a shelter. But once the animate being is unclaimed for a sure amount of time or is of a sure age or with medical problems, they will be euthanized.

This solution does not ride substantially with many animal-lovers and the people who work with animals. There are instantly fresh coevals of "shelters" dedicated to caring for these marginalized faunas. There are many positron emission tomography borrowing organizations that make it their occupations to find dwelling houses for lost and desolated favorites without mercy killing being an pick at all. A lot of them work together with big ducky supplying shops in order to pass a wider audience and find homes for all the animate beings that need them.

Shops like PetCo and Pet Smart sell favorite provisions and dog iron provisions, but they too apply Petfinder to bring faunas and masses in concert. Petfinder claims to have brokered 12 million borrowings since 1995. They have a subroutine where you can determine about the brute you want to take over before you take it. You can likewise use it to find other borrowing groupings in your area, and search for positron emission topographies that are uncommitted for borrowing.

At Petfinder, you can search for duckies in the following brute classes: barn grounds, bird, big cat, domestic dog, Equus caballus, sloven, lapin, reptilian, and diminished & furry. The service will tell you what is uncommitted in your accurate expanse.

Best Friends is an organization given to deliverance and "no-kill," as it is called. They are a non profit grouping doing work with other non profit groupings to proffer medical assistance, foster homes and borrowing services. It was started in 1998 by two adult females who had premature Tennessean experience with fauna attention and delivery. They regarded there was a indigence for beast lovers to band together to provide attention and rest homes for any creatures that need it.

Brutes who wind up at Best Friends have normally been abused, forsaken or failed and are in serious penury of medical attention. Best Friends creates that come about and then feels the animate being a domicile where they can be safe and experience slept with.

Whichever service from which you choose to follow, it is important to be sure you are ready for the love and dedication it takes to have a positron emission tomography. They should not be viewed as only play things that need to be disposed of when they carried us. They are (arguably) sentient organisms and merit a safe dwelling free from misuse. You do not have to have any moral reservations when purchasing a favorite, but it's a good conception to consider before spending money on an animal and favorite supplying or firedog provisions - if you're not able to dedicate to catering for the beast (health care, solid food, man oeuvre time) then mayhap owning a positron emission tomography is not the best idea.

Studies of human and animal behavior have brought to light some interesting theories related to shelters and animal adoption. Here are five facts related to pet adoption in the United States (well, they may be more like theories supported by research than actual facts, but you get the idea)!

1) Black Dogs Don't Get Adopted

The average pet owner probably doesn't know how difficult it is for a black dog to get adopted. Being a black dog at an animal shelter is almost a death sentence on its own. Dark colored dogs are euthanize at a rate in extreme excess of other lighter colored dogs regardless of breed, or temperament. It is difficult to say the exact reason for this phenomena, which has been coined as "Black Dog Syndrome".

Studies have speculated that they are the least likely to be adopted based on how we as a society perceive them. It could be for a variety of reasons including that they don't photograph well, that they look "scary" in comparison to lighter colored animals, or that they are simply just "plain" looking and don't catch peoples interest. Whatever the reason, Black Dog Syndrome is a serious problem that shelters have to deal with.

2 ) Love At First Sight

Research has also shown the validity of love at first sight as it is related to adopting pets at a shelter. Dogs that are kenneled in a position that puts them as the first in the line of sight of a prospective pet owner are adopted at significantly higher rates than those that are kenneled in the back of the facility. As human beings, we tend to bond with animals quickly, and those dogs that weren't the first ones we saw coming through the door are generally out of luck.

This hopefully will not be too much of a problem in the near future. More shelters are rotating their dogs throughout their kennels on a weekly, if not daily basis in order to give every dog a fair shake at being adopted.

3) Bandannas and Outfits Don't Help

As if to contradict what we had stated about love at first sight, I feel compelled to state that bandannas and other cute doggy accessories do not have a statistically significant bearing on whether or not a person would adopt an animal. Several ethological studies have shown that there was no difference in adoption rates between those animals that were, or were not dressed to impress at adoption events. This was even true across multiple days using the same dogs while rotating when any specific animal was wearing an outfit. The ineffectiveness of doggy outfits on adoption rates is surprising, but the numbers don't lie!

4) Behavioral Problems Are Common

The majority of dogs that are dropped off at shelters are not strays, but dogs that are left by owners that are not being truthful about why they are giving up their pets for adoption. It is theorized that the pet owner feels guilty about the real reason that they are giving up their dog.

It is oftentimes because they think that it will affect the chances of the dog being adopted if they admit that it had any behavioral problems that led to them being overwhelmed as caretakers. It would be much more helpful if the prior owners were honest in their evaluation of their pets so that any behavioral "defects" for the lack of a better word could be corrected with training.

This would help to prevent the same behavior problem from occurring down the road, and would effectively decrease the number of pets that are returned to the shelter due to incompatibility with their new families.

5) October Is "Adopt A Shelter Dog Month"

This month is the first adopt a dog month. Shelters across the country encourage you to adopt a pet if you are ready for the responsibility of pet ownership; however, you can also help by volunteering at a local pet shelter. Most shelters are understaffed, and the regular volunteers will appreciate the help. If you are a teenager thinking about veterinary school someday, then I would encourage you to volunteer at a shelter for experience that can be cited on your veterinary school application.

We`ve all seen stray dogs roaming the street looking scared, hungry, and frazzled. It tears your heart out. It always makes me wonder how they ended up that way.

Some slightly luckier strays might end up in shelters or getting rescued by a compassionate person. Not all dogs end up in shelters because they were

necessarily "bad" or had behavioral problems. Alot of them end up in shelters because people buy dogs without considering the effort and expense of dog

ownership. Some end up there because an owner dies or goes into a nusing home. Some are also are either given or simply dropped off there because of

divorces and neither perosn wants or can care for the dog by themselves. But there`s many dogs end up discarded because they were used by breeders or puppy mills

as sort of breeding machines. Then when they no longer serve that purpose, they are given up

Rescued dogs who have been neglected or abandoned need training and gentle to be a good member of your household. However, they most likely will need less training than a puppy would. People don`t know that a good percentage of rescue dogs aren`t just mutts, but come from breeders (as mentioned earlier) or pet stores, and are pedigrees. Either way rescued dogs can make great pets and can, with your compassion and patience adapt to your lifestyle and family members. You`ll then be rewarded with their loyalty and affection. An abandoned dog is usually eager to become part of a loving pack where they feel safe and loved - since they are by nature pack animals. Many who adopt these rescued dogs describe their new family members as eager to please and form strong bonds with their human "pack".

Should you go to a shelter or rescue society (usually for a specific breed such as greyhounds), there`s usually a fee which covers a medical exam, spaying or neutering, and any necessary shots. It also contributes to the cause of the shelter which is after all to keep doing what they do. You will likely meet with a volunteer worker at the shelter so you can meet the dog before you adopt and to see if it`s a good match. If the dog chooses you too with a loving gaze, then that`s a good sign that you`ve been approved to receive their friendship hopefully for many years to come.

It is almost overwhelming to see how many dogs are simply discarded by people and end up in an animal shelter waiting for one of two things to happen, adoption or euthenization.

There are many rescue orgainzations in the United States who, on a daily basis, rescue those unfortunate animals from animal shelters all over the country. Using the following link you can find a particular breed rescue group that can help you adopt a dog. (http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm) Copy and paste the link into your address bar and all of the rescue groups listed by the American Kennel Club will be at your finger tips. The contact names for the organizations are listed and if the group has an e-mail address that is listed as well. These wonderful rescue organizations can use all the help they can get

Few things in life are more magnanemous that rescuing a dog from a shelter. By definition, the word magnanemous means giving with out the expectation of the recipient being able to give back. We are the only hope for the animals that have been abandoned or left at shelters because of circumstances beyond our control.

I personally have been in the drivers seat in rescuing dogs. I was the rescue chairman for Great Pyrenees dogs for many years here in central California. I know how it feels to look into the longing eyes of a dog that has no hope other that the generosity of people. Believe me, a lot of the dogs that are left at shelters could have been better served if a rescue group had been contacted before the animal was given up to the shelter.

There is a manufacturing company in California that makes dog collars, dog leashes, and dog harnesses and is trying to do their part in making the cost of adoption a little less. They are doing this by offering a 20% discount on all of their products purchased for use on the dog that has been adopted. The nylon and leather products sold by them are all made in the U.S. If you adopt a dog and would like to get high quality products for your new dog, just go to furpetsonly.com and see what they have to offer.

So, you've finally made the decision that you want to adopt a canine buddy. That's great news! But first you must decide if your new best friend will be an adult dog or a puppy.

Without a doubt, it can be lots of fun having a playful puppy in the house. However, adopting a puppy is a major decision requiring a major time commitment. For the first couple of weeks, both you and your new pup will have to adjust to your new living arrangements. There may be a few sleepless nights in store for both of you. In addition, new puppies must be supervised closely and properly taught what is and is not acceptable behavior. And don't forget housetraining! In some cases this can be a difficult time with numerous "accidents" to clean up. Your patience while housetraining a puppy may be stretched to the limit. Also, young pups love to chew on things. Keep in mind that it may take at least six to eight months for your little buddy to outgrow his chewing phase and another 12 months until he's fully mature.

It's very important to carefully consider whether or not your lifestyle can be adapted in order to deal with the challenges that a new puppy will present. Should you determine that you really can't provide the time and attention that a puppy requires you may find that adopting a mature dog can be an excellent alternative.

Many adult dogs have already been housetrained. You'll likely still have a few accidents but it won't take long for the adult dog to learn your rules. Adult dogs are easier to train as they have longer attention spans than excitable puppies. In fact, you may find that they have already learned some basic commands from their previous owners. Choosing an adult dog, you will already be aware of its full size, true personality, and health. As puppies develop, one or more of these traits may end up being a big surprise. An adult dog may be a better choice if you have young children. Older dogs may have already had experience with children and they are much more predictable than puppies. Playing with a new puppy you'll soon discover that they have needle-sharp teeth that can accidentally injure a young child.

Another option to consider is the adoption of a canine "senior citizen". All too often, older dogs in shelters are considered unadoptable even though they can still have many more good years to offer to a loving family. Rescuing an older dog from an untimely demise can be a reward all its own.

Adopting a dog requires your commitment to ensure a happy, healthy partnership between you and your new best friend. However, it can really be great fun and it's definitely well worth the effort!

There are many of you who have wanted to bring a dog home as a pet. There are different ways that you can go about this business of choosing a dog but you may want to think about the various needs a dog requires before you consider dog adoptions as being the right thing to do.

When you are thinking about dog adoptions you will need to see what type of dog you want to have. You will need to consider if this dog will be happy with your home and your lifestyle. This is important as some dogs are really suited for patrolling large compounds and other types of dogs love to have nice long walks.

Besides seeing if your home and lifestyle are suited for owning a dog you will have to see if your new pet will have all of the toys and other accessories that contributes towards their health. To find what are the best types of toys and other accessories your dog will need, you should talk with the staff at the animal shelter where you are hoping to see to your dog adoption.

Additionally you must find out one other item before you start think about any sort of dog adoptions. This item is the type of food that you will need to give your new pet dog. As each breed is different in temperament and size you will need to buy the right type of food for the dog. Therefore understanding the dietary preferences of various dogs will be helpful in your choice of dogs.

Once you are satisfied about the different needs of these many dogs, you can consider if you have what it takes to be a good friend and companion to a dog. You should only go through with the various procedures of dog adoptions if you are really sure about owning a dog. You should be prepared to have the shelter come and see or ask for reports about how your new adoptee is doing.

Some animal and dog shelters have a trial time period that has to be accomplished without any hassles for either the dog or your family before they will consider you as a suitable candidate for dog adoptions. When everything has been seen to successfully then you will be able to take your four legged friend home to start a new life.

While it may seem very easy to own a dog there are many factors that need to be understood. You should consider dog adoptions only if you have what it takes to be a good dog lover and companion.

Everyone already more or less read, seen or heard, a history of dog having saved its Master in danger of death, and retained these rare cases (when it is not a question of urban legends) that the best friend of the man felt the danger, and did not hesitate to carry help to its Master.
Everyone already more or less read, seen or heard, a history of dog having saved its Master in danger of death, and retained these rare cases (when it is not a question of urban legends) that the best friend of the man felt the danger, and did not hesitate to carry help to its Master. Reality is unfortunately very different.

An experiment was carried out confirming this nonchalance of the pooch. In order to test their capacity to recognize an emergency case, several dogs were put in situation. In a first case, the owners of the dogs pretended the heart attack, in the second experiment, they simulated an accident into which a library was falling over them, leaving them on the ground, unconscious. Amazement, dogs were not interested in the second state in which their master was, without doubt they had better to sniff or water … In any case they did not carry help to their Master by going to seek one of the accomplices who waited wisely not far from there.

The dog behaviors can be interpreted so many ways. Dog professionals can analyze this experiment based on their past experiences. However, they will definitely agree with the outcome of this experiment.

The conclusion is that dogs (not trained to do so) cannot recognize an emergency.

I have always been an animal person and found great comfort in their company and loyalty, no more so than my collie cross Jake who was forever at my side and travelled everywhere i went. Now when Jake sadly passed away i was devastated and found a huge hole in my life, it was the little things like making a coffee and not seeing him sat next to me when i opened the fridge or when i put my coat on no excited jumping and grabbing of the lead that hung up.

So as time went by i started to think of buying a new dog, not that i could ever replace Jake that was never my intention but to have company and the thought of having a new puppy again and training it and having a new addition to the family really started to seem a good idea. The breed of the dog was never an important factor and i was sure that when i saw the one i would know, I looked at breeders in my area but i was forever thinking of helpless and abandoned dogs that lived in kennels or shelters and thought that me giving a good home really started looking like my preferred option.

While looking over the Internet i came across the site

www.Helpmexicandogs.com

which was showing the very urgent need for adoptive families for literally hundreds of dogs who every year are discarded from homes for whatever reason and left to roam the streets living a very hard and difficult life. This charity is owned by the Pimentel family who make it their mission to take the stray dogs from the street and house them and ultimately find loving and caring homes for them, which in Mexico is becoming increasingly harder.

So now they have started a very successful and heartfelt charity which aims to inform and educate people of Mexico about such issues and to also asks people from the United States and Canada to think about adopting a Mexican dog....and when they say adopt they do not mean donate money and receive photos and letters they really mean adopt and they will take care of relocating these beautiful and loving dogs who only need a caring and supporting environments to which to show their true personalities without fear of abuse and neglect.

I did just this after looking at their site i came across Maribella who's photo was of a scruffy looking but ultimately beautiful mixed dog which i knew i had to take care of, i read the information and profile that stated she was abandoned and left to walk the streets in a pack of dogs and as she was submissive was usually singled out for attacks by other dogs. I was nearly crying as i sent an email to the site asking for details on how to get Maribella and what i had to pay, and i was really surprised to find out how easy it was they called me the very next day and conducted a telephone interview and took my details they then had there partners who work with them to make the necessary checks and make sure i was a good candidate and all they asked for was a 25 dollar fee....can you believe it 25 dollars and they would have Maribella sent to me in one week healthy and checked by vets. I did not think i could wait a week after seeing her face and it felt like forever before the flight arriving which carried Maribella arrived and i met here for the very first time....and i knew i had done the right thing, she was a little nervous at the start but after coaxing her out of the travel cage she came up to me and sniffed my face as if we were long lost friends. That was six months ago and she has never left my side since, she really is the nicest and gentlest dog she is fun, friendly full of love and life. I really thank my lucky stars for finding this website and the charity and learning more about the many dogs in need and if i could i would have them all live with me, but that unfortunately is not possible so i am spreading the word about this marvelous charity in the hope that like minded people can help and provide a warm and caring environment for such well meaning and deserving dogs, I still am in touch and send little donations to help with food and vet bills and will continue to do so as i know that without my help more Maibellas will be forgotten.

So do something amazing and check out the page

There are some instances where dogs need to be taken away from their owners as these people have proved to be neglectful and sometimes abusive pet owners. To help get these innocent animals to safety there are different types of dog rescue groups. These various groups are comprised of professionals in the animal world like vets, animal handlers, and dog walkers.

When these people are informed about a neglected dog they begin the dog rescue process. To make sure that the owners will not cause any problems sometimes the local police will be informed. Once the dog rescue has been accomplished the team heads back to a dog shelter.

At the shelter one of the dog rescue team will gain the animal’s trust and the process of settling the dog for the duration of its stay will begin. The first part of the dog rescue is to see to the various health aspects of the dog. This means that the dog must be cleaned up carefully so that any wounds or injuries will not be further aggravated. Once the dog has been cleaned and carefully groomed the vet at the dog rescue will see what the injuries need to be healed.

This process has to proceed very carefully as the dog will be unsure of its surroundings and will be ready to defend itself. Once the various wounds and injuries have been looked after, a nutritious meal will have to be planned. This way any malnutrition will soon disappear and the dog will soon begin to look healthy.

The kennel where the dog will stay while it is at the dog rescue centers will be a temporary home. As soon as a foster family is found the dog will be moved to stay with the foster family. It is from these foster families that the dogs will learn to trust humans and also become sociable animals.

While the dog is with the foster family the other training factors of dogs are begun. These training periods will be conducted with love and care so that the dog begins to enjoy learning all of its new tricks and commands. Once the dog has fully adapted to being a member of a family the dog is ready for adoption.

The various applicants who come to the dog rescue will see happy and healthy dogs just waiting to be adopted and taken home. For a previously neglected, abused or malnourished dog the best place to start a new future can be found in a dog rescue.

Dog rescue groups are designed primarily to rescue any breed of dog that is being abused by their owners. The various dog rescue groups can legally go into a house and take any dog out that is being mistreated. In addition to rescuing dogs from abusive owners dog rescue groups will also recover the various dogs that are at the overcrowded pounds.

The other types of dogs that dog rescue groups go to the aid of is that of the many different strays and abandoned dogs. These dogs are all taken to dog rescue centers. At these centers the staff will calm the frightened animal down. Once the trust of the animal has been gained the staff will wash and clean the dirt and other matter that has accumulated on the dogs.

When the dog has been thoroughly cleaned the veterinarian from the dog rescue group will begin healing the many cuts, scrapes and wounds that are on the dog. In addition any internal and external parasites are gotten rid of. The result of this is the dog has a better chance for a full recovery.

Once the grooming process and the medical examination has been finished the dog is petted and given lots of love. For many of these dogs this is the first time in their entire life that they are cared for and made comfortable and free. These dogs will also be given a nutritious meal so that they can begin to look healthy.

Before these dogs are ready to be adopted the dog rescue groups will place the dogs in foster care. The various families who take care of these unwanted dogs are used to caring for and training these dogs to become loving members of a family.

The various social and behavioral lessons that many adoptive families want from their new four legged family members will be well learnt before the dog rescue groups will consider that the dogs in their shelter are ready for adoption.

When a successful adoption has been accomplished the dog rescue group will provide counseling for the adoptive family to get used to the presence of their new pet and the changes that are present in their lives as a result of a pet. These are the many faces of dog rescue groups.

These dog rescue groups provide us with a valuable alternative to euthanizing unwanted dogs and puppies. The next time that you hear about a dog rescue group in your area you may want to see how you can help these groups look after the many needs of their doggy tenants.

Going through the results of available dogs with animal shelters, rescue groups or non-profit agencies on the Internet are some ways to find out more about a dog adoption plan as dogs may end up in these places for a variety of reasons: death of the owner, the family moving away or lack of monetary resources to support a dog's needs etc. At times, these places also serve as homes for dogs that are lost and wandering the streets or for persons with a limiting health condition that no longer allows them to take care of the dog or even the dog suffering a disease. In fact, the US has a special unit called The Humane Society of the United States that has recorded that nearly 3-4 million dogs and cats have been subjected to mercy killings annually only because there weren't enough homes to place them in - a sorry state indeed for man's best friends.

Since the dog adoption process is fairly uncomplicated, those looking to find a loyal companion or playmate can hope to get the formalities dealt with in a short timepspan, usually ranging from half an hour to a max of 2 days; once the application is processed and the questionnaire filled out, the dog adoption center may enquire from the applicant's landlord (if applicable) about society rules about pets or come over to personally inspect your living quarters to find them suitable for keeping a pet. A yard and a dog-friendly location verified, the dog adoption centre fees (typically ranging from to 0) need to be paid up, after which the dog is spayed or neutered before being given the send-off - and you can be homeward bound 2-3 days after this surgery.

When going through with a dog adoption procedure, among the things you need to ensure are whether the dog you pick matches your lifestyle and personal needs, besides checking on the dog's personality, which differs according to their breed. For example, some breed of dogs are terrific with children while others can be aggressive or not suitable to live along with other animals; you need to research this aspect thoroughly to suit your living conditions. Since most dog adoption centers allow a visitation period with some making it mandatory even, this is the best time to spend some time with your prospective pet to know their individual behavioral traits.

Experts advise that dog adoption choice is actually a big responsibility and prospective owners should take this seriously: proper information should be collected from local dog shelters, including taking advantage of visition period and free info or any extras that these centers extend or even taking kids along to see how the dog and they gel together! Find out about fees, animal visitation times and whether it's allright with them if you bring along your other pet/s (if you have any) to the shelter during this time to check on both personalities matching together for healthy living situation so your dog adoption wish goes off smoothly.
